Dental alginate mixers are used to create a smooth, evenly mixed alginate impression material. These systems make using alginate materials simpler and easier. These use vibration or rotation to mix the alginate powder and water as per the manufacturer’s instructions

This mixer is an electrically-powered device used chairside, just before applying dental impression material to the patient’s oral cavity, during dental operations.

According to the appropriate measurements of powder/water and mixing time settings, it is designed for centrifugation and used to vibrate and rotate dental alginate impression materials.

The automatic alginate mixer is a special device for mixing dental alginate impressions used in dental offices and by orthodontic specialists. It has electrical and mechanical control. INTRODUCTION

There are two ways to combine the alginate impression material: manually and mechanically. The right amount of water and powder cannot be precisely established using the manual method therefore the mechanical method is much preferred.

• 1-Add alginate powder and water into a mixing cup

38 ml of water for 16 g of powder is the ideal ratio. A measured amount of water and alginate powder is poured into the mixing cup. The measuring cup is used to measure precise quantities of water and powder for a better mix. It is preferred to use water at room temperature so that mixing time and setting time are not affected.

• 2-Moisten with the stirrer for a few seconds and close the mixing cup.

Alginate is moistened with the provided stirrer before closing the lid of the mixing cup. This ensures proper wetting of complete alginate to get a uniform mix

• 3-Put the mixing cup into the mixing well

The mixing cup is then placed in the mixing well and the assembly is properly adapted.

• 4-Cover the lead and press start

Thereafter the lid is closed tightly and the machine is switched on by pressing the start button. The amalgamator is centrifugated at a very high speed and the powder is mixed with liquid to get a uniform consistency.

• 5-After mixing use the spatula and remove the mixed impression

After the mixing is completed a spatula should be used to remove the alginate impression material from the mixing cup. The impression material is then loaded onto the impression tray and then introduced into the mouth of the patient to take an accurate replica of the tooth.
